As a psychotherapist, my approach encompasses a blend of psychotherapy, education, and deep work (when needed). My goal is to equip you with necessary knowledge for a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships, in order to create lasting change so that you can thrive in all aspects of your life.
My therapeutic methodology is rooted in evidence-based techniques that empowers you to take control of your life and move you towards your fullest potential. I will help you find the healing that you need.
I am certified and trained in several modalities that I utilize when working with my clients. Following are some of these modalities.
Attachment Theory by Dr. Gordon Neufeld and Gabor Maté
I draw on Attachment Theory to help my clients gain a deeper understanding of the root causes of their behaviours, patterns and beliefs. In doing this work, my clients develop a deeper awareness of how their early childhood bonds and attachments with their primary caregivers shaped their lives. My clients come to understand how their earlier experiences have influenced their expectations, attitudes and beliefs about themselves and their relationships. Through this therapy, my clients are often left feeling inspired, motivated and empowered to effect real change, and in turn they gain a stronger sense of control in their lives.
Mental Health and Positive Neuroplasticity Techniques by Dr. Rick Hansen
Dr. Rick Hansen’s work on mental health and positive neuroplasticity offers profound insights into how the brain can be rewired for resilience and well-being. These techniques involve using positive strategies combined with neuroscience principles to effectively treat symptoms of anxiety, depression and trauma. This type of therapy helps clients overcome the brain’s negativity bias, release painful thoughts and feelings and replace them with self-compassion, self-worth, joy and inner peace. I utilize the power of neuroscience along with positive life experiences to rewire negative thought patterns, offering tools and life skills that lead to deep and lasting change on how you perceive the world around you. The goal is to help my clients increase their overall state of well-being.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) by Dr. David Burns
CBT is a powerful approach that delves into the interplay between thoughts, feelings, behaviours and choices. Through this technique, I help clients understand how their thoughts influence their emotions and vice versa, leading to specific decisions and actions. By addressing negative thought patterns and emotions, CBT empowers individuals to shift towards a more positive mindset, thereby improving mood, coping skills and overall mental health. I apply this method in individual therapy and in couples therapy. CBT is pivotal in modern mental health treatment and is an approach that provides hope and tangible solutions for those dealing with depression, anxiety and related challenges.
Trauma Therapy: Somatic Experiencing Therapy by Dr. Peter Levine
Dr. Peter Levine’s trauma healing techniques are invaluable for individuals struggling with past traumatic experiences. Dr. Levine describes trauma as “an internal straitjacket created when a devastating moment is frozen in time.” Trauma stifles the unfolding of our being and strangles our attempts to move forward with our lives. It disconnects us from ourselves, others, nature and spirit. Trauma symptoms are not caused by the event itself; they arise when residual energy from the traumatic experience is not discharged from within the nervous system. This energy remains trapped in the nervous system where it can wreak havoc on our bodies and minds. We can then lose the capacity to cope in healthy ways, and in turn, become less resilient. I utilize the Somatic Experiencing approach that supports a framework to assess where a person has become stuck in the FIGHT, FLIGHT OR FREEZE response and provide the tools to resolve these physiological states.

I believe in the power of integrating these cutting-edge modalities to tailor therapy to each individual’s unique needs. Whether you’re looking to improve your mental health, improve your relationships, delve deeper into roots and patterns, or heal past trauma, I can help you effect lasting change in your life. Whether you’re in North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Squamish, the Lower Mainland or online.
